Our Employment Skills Trainer provides support for individuals with disabilities in a variety of community-based work settings.
In this position the Employment Skills Trainer provides support for the person served to gain independence in work tasks and work environment, which includes development of natural supports, assist the person receiving services in identifying and communicating his or her requests and needs for services and supports.
Duties:
The Employment Skills Trainer facilitates training and integration of Project SEARCH interns into a department rotation at the host business and/or competitive work environment.
Provide individual training and support to the intern at the host business worksite or competitive job which includes skills training, building natural supports, identifying reasonable adjustments, assistive technology, etc.
Communicate effectively with any other staff, co-workers, family members, college and supported employment agency personnel as relates to the intern being trained.
Carry out steps of employment plan with intern and other parties as appropriate and attend individual employment planning meetings to know intern's strengths, interests and challenges.
Practice positive feedback techniques with interns, colleagues, and other staff.
Train interns on the required standard in the areas of personal hygiene, communication, interviewing, and self-management as they relate to successful employment at the host business.
Explore jobs that match intern's interests and skills and communicate with all team members about job options.

UNC Health Southeastern Additional requirements of the Employment Skills Trainer position includes:
High School degree or GED required; Valid drivers' license and automotive insurance Ability to pass background check and drug screen Must have excellent written communication skills Have 2 years' experience working with individuals with disabilities Must be able to squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop.
Required to regularly stand and walk.
Must have reliable transportation to serve participants in the program delivery area.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
